The border is one of the most sensitive areas of a country--most especially if your country is neighbor to another country with a decades-long civil conflict.
It is for this reason that Ecuador called on Colombia to add more troops, with international observers included, to keep watch of their common border and prevent rebels and war refugees from crossing over to Ecuador.
