Of course "Ecuador" means "equator", as it is right on the fictitious geographical line that divides the northern from the southern hemispheres. It is a heavily volcanic country with all the awe and mystery that word implies (stroll down the Avenue of the Volcanoes)! Equally divided between the highlands and the rain forest with fantastically beautiful cities like Quito and Guayaquil, with their pre-colombian and European cultures. As the author states, the only option, as the song says, is to "fall in love", with the country, that is.
